Well, this is a new account that I wish to try out- the NARRATOR. This account will be used to describe the surroundings, how they change, and all that. Only forum staff ((Tophfaith and Soul)) will be allowed to make one- mainly due to the huge role they play in roleplay ((and the fact that I gave them administrator privileges.))
The narrator can be used to control NPCs ((hopefully without bias towards characters)) if there is a need for it. In Episode 1: INTRODUCTORY, a narrator is not needed because NPCs are simply voices in the crowd. However, if we need something more than a voice in the crowd, like a fully walking, talking character that ONLY appears in one episode or one scenario, that's the narrator's job.
Also, in OOC ((out of character- i.e. the stuff in double parenthesis)), you can ask the narrator about your surroundings, giving a more detailed summary of a room than just two panicked characters looking around and noticing a few things. This is stuff that would NOT be described in the first post, especially if the episode or scenario involves moving between lots of different rooms.
The narration can also describe sudden happenings in the environment, such as the ceiling starting to crumble. If one character mentioned the ceiling crumbling in the middle of their post, it's not improbable that someone is going to skip over that part and just stay in the room, acting as if the ceiling is normal.
Plus, the narrator is capable of describing the effects of your character's actions on the environment. If a character does this repeatedly, it may seem like auto-hitting. Just so that this is fair and unbiased towards characters, I will use random.org to input the different outcomes for each action ((Like setting an object down across a gap and walking over it. The object could break and send your character tumbling to the floor below or it could hold. Both outcomes would be put into random.org, with the more probable- the board not breaking- being put in 3-4 times, but the board breaking only being put in once.))
If you want the Narrator to stay out of your scenario, please say so at the end of the post! If you're running a scenario and you DO want narration, just send a PM to this account about what you'd like the narrator to say. Or, you could say that you will be narrating your own scenario in bold, italic, underlined text. That's fine- as long as you are the one who posted the scenario, you can narrate.
Sorry if I haven't explained this well enough. Go ahead and ask me stuff!
